  What is the Bowen Technique?

The Bowen Technique is a non-invasive remedial therapy consisting of a sequence of gentle, rolling light-touch moves over muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves at precise points, interspersed with short periods of rest.

These moves send impulses to  the brain via the nervous system, stimulating energy flow, releasing stresses, strains and blockages and triggering the body’s own resources to naturally rebalance, repair and heal itself.

There is no forceful, rapid manipulation and no massage or deep probing.
It is very relaxing, very gentle and safe for all ages.

It is holistic in that it treats the whole person, every organ, every system, every part of the body and not just the condition causing the problem. Healing occurs as needed: physical, mental, energetic, chemical, emotional etc., allowing the body to re-orient to an original “blueprint”.

People are often surprised at how gentle Bowen Therapy is, especially those who are used to other types of treatment such as physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage. Many people think that Bowen is a kind of massage but in fact its objective and application is quite different. Unlike massage and other forms of treatment that attempt to force a change, Bowen moves simply reset the body to heal itself. It is not the pressure but the technique which produces such amazing results and this is why it is so effective in treating even tiny babies and the elderly.
